It is their low end trimmer, more suitable for thin grass and small areas.

They have other Ryobi models in 18V before jumping to 40V performance, search HD's site and you'll find a few discounted as special buys.

They have this one for only $11 more, seems well worth the price difference if the budget is too tight to move up to their next better kit.
