If you're not worried about the looks, or not having "dusty teal" color, go to your local grocery store (or supercenter) bakery, and ask if they have any buckets. Typically, they'll have small (~3 gallon), or large (~5 gallon) sizes, and can offer them with or without lids. Drill some holes for drainage, give them a rinse, and you've got a cheap container to grow veggies. 5 gallon size is perfect for a large tomato or pepper plant, or a couple smaller chili pepper plants.
^ yeah I started out my patio container garden with 5 gallon buckets, but then found some ~6.54 gallon, and ultimately I found that my hot peppers only got to about 1/2 the size they they reach in larger containers, bells about 65%, but tomatoes... not even close.
Even in my crappy clay ground soil, tomatoes grow 3X the size they do in a 6.5 gallon bucket, even with the bucket having much higher quality soil. These days, I'm looking for 55 gallon plastic drums on the cheap to cut in half for ~25 gallons each, containers.
