How do you figure? Most major cordless tool brands sell them as a separate tool.
I prefer seeing what I'm doing, and unless you want to rig up some DIY LED array powered by a tool battery, which would take a lot of time and materials, having a work light tool that runs off your tool batteries for hours at a time is extremely convenient - at least when the type that can be aimed at something.
I liked my ancient Dewalt 14.4V tool work light so much that I retrofitted it with 6W worth of Cree LEDs and a driver in the base. Crappy $2 driver gives off RF that drives AM radios crazy but I don't listen to AM. If I could have bought a 6W drop-in for that light I would have but the old incan style lights can only handle about 1.5W worth of LED in an incandescent bulb form factor, so a ready made LED tool work light is the way to go today.
Consider that the whole kit costs $99 and is 7 pieces. What would omitting the work light take off the total cost, $7? Well worth the $7 IMO.
