These are better for you for 12 cents more each

The 365 by Whole Foods Market Organic Black Beans comes in an eco-friendly cardboard carton instead of traditional metal cans with no added salt for .90 with S&S

^ While I'm all for reducing sodium hidden in foods, in the case of canned beans a lot of it is in the brine solution added and can be rinsed away in a strainer.

Eco friendly container is harder to evaluate since practically any municipal recycling program takes food cans.

However the cost per serving is higher, with the Whole Foods container holding less at 13.4oz and strangely also claiming the same 130g serving size has less protein and carbs which to me implies fewer beans and more water? Not that most Americans need more carbs... on the other hand, cost per serving is lower still cooking your own dry beans but that takes some planning ahead of time, except for smaller legumes like lentils. I love how they only take ~15min. and can be had around $1/lb with S&S then that $1 makes 3lbs worth not counting any water that was strained off, nor salt if you don't add any. I just don't have a lot of dishes where I want use a lot at a time but good to throw a few in soup or pasta salad, etc.
