Plex serves up your own movies. But the Live TV and TiVo’ish stuff is worth it to me if you buy a HD OTA network tuner.

I paid $75 for my Lifetime Plex way back in 2012. Never looked back... Plex is amazing.

Tried it before, never worked right. I just wanted it to stream my movies from my NAS (which BTW does NOT use half my electricity...really...??? There is no way a NAS lowered anyones electric bill by half) but it would keep trying to transcode them even though I have gigabit networking and can stream full bluray no problem. Maybe if you want to stream offsite to your tiny phone or something but in house it is just as easy to use file explorer and select the bluray drive or the file on your NAS.
