Does anyone still buy home theaters anymore? I’ve converted to high-end sound bars that didn’t require such a large presence in a room. Also, in previous experiences, and in my opinion, you should never run video through a stereo. Source to TV and audio split to high end sound. If you go through stereo, you have more problems, inputs and technology to update on your next refresh of equipment. If you must have a stereo, I suggest digital in to stereo just for sound.

I used to own an Onkyo HT and it was pretty amazing (lost it in a flood). I didn't want to invest time into wiring, installation etc when I moved to a new house, so I opted for a Bose soundbar. It is really great, but the real surround sound is something I still miss. It's like being there.
