I bought one of these for my daughter as she heads off to college. Her dorm room does not have air conditioning.

When I was a kid, we didn't have air conditioning, and a window fan was my salvation. I found that using the fan to pump air OUT of the room in one window, and then leaving another window open just 2" made it such that a flat stream of air shot into and across the room... straight at my bed.
