These devices baffle me... Not cause I can't understand how they work. No... Moreso because of why anyone would really need one. Most people would NOT be able to distinguish a material difference in sound quality between a "lossless" player and the mobile phone they already have.
It makes sense if it has a better headamp circuit to drive quality cans with high-z. And you're willing to spend a lot of money to get there. Even then it shouldn't cost over $50 but such is the audiophile world, that if you dare to want HQ audio, the price rises quickly, even when it's legitimate quality increases instead of just snake oil.
If you don't care about a screen and just want HQ home audio, you can build a headamp that would blow this away for under $100, but DIY... the learning curve might not be worth the time if you didn't already have that idea in mind.
Just wish my hearing was as "lossless" as this device! That constant tinnitus ringing, makes even the crummiest mp3 player sound just as good as this thing.
Nobody over 40 yrs. old has hearing that can discern high-end audio anymore. Just part of life, and that's if U haven't abused your hearing more than normally done.
