Amazon with Buffalo Americas Inc has the Buffalo 1TB USB 3.0 External Solid State Drive (SSD-PUT1.0U3B) for $70 with free shipping. Has up to 600 MB/s transfer speeds.
What? You can get an 1TB m.2 for about that now. Add a cheap enclosure and you have a serious external HD. - Shmeagle
Solid state drive enclosures never made sense to me except for continuous laptop use, considering the added bulk and needing a cable for something meant to be highly portable.
This strikes a good balance between size and performance, unlike most smaller USB flash drives that are terribly slow in comparison, especially for writing a lot of smaller files.
I'd have no problem with Buffalo brand, had a rock solid router from them back in the day, plus this has nearly 2000, 4.5/5 star avg customer ratings.
I just don't need 1TB, will probably get this, or a Sandisk Extreme or similar, once a ~500GB size drops near $35.
