^That "event" was hard to sit through! It just hasn't been the same since Jobs! I still love my iPhone (especially the camera) and will continue to get iPhones, but yeah, not nearly as much excitement anymore :(
If you already have an X or 8/8+, wait for next year. But if you are looking for something new, go for it. If you are looking to save a few dollars, consider the Xr, same cpu as the flagship. You just need to ask yourself if all the other bells and whistle is worth the extra $200.
though very muted, the XR is very considerable. Its 25% more battery life going 1.5 full days normal use, and 10-20% cheaper, and larger screen. its what all apple fanboys wanted. Honestly most people just want more battery life and thats exactly what they are giving, by a good amount. My old iphone 6 is going to older relatives with fresh batteries for $30, I never have to support their phone, easy to update and facetime is a breeze for grandma. yes the events are pretty boring now, and so are the phones, but dam they are so rock solid.
What a sham. Adding software features that they're holding back from prior models even sold the previous year. The adjusting aperture and other features should be made available on the 8 plus models and the 10 at least.

Maybe Apple wants to make sure it is not another "bend gate" or "map gate". They always get strive to get the best "out of the box" experience. Don't forget, Apple is still the one to beat. I really don't see Android companies advertise against each other. They only go against the "best".
Apple iPhones aren't what they used to be... I just bought a new 8+ 256gb and had it unlocked, love the camera, but it's just now catching up with the camera that I had on my Samsung Note 4 years ago... I do like that you don't have to constantly reboot an Apple like you do an Android...
The carrier deals are all really quite bad, aren't they? Only Sprint comes even close to covering the cost of the phone, and that's for a weird lease deal. Might be time to start looking at budget carriers like Ting and Consumer Cellular.
T-Mobile recently announced via John Legere's twitter account that they are adding in the BOGO $700 off starting 9/15. The trade-in perk remains the same

The ECG will be useful for the sticker shock when you see the cost of the Xs

If you go through Apple you get AppleCare tacked on, which is way better than carrier insurance. Plus, you can switch carriers if you need to.
