There is no need to get an APC branded replacement unless they have changed them in recent years. They just slap their label on a standard battery form factor.

Some of their larger units take more time to find a battery but with these, if same as their other ~650VA models, an extremely common, 7Ah-8Ah 12V, where all you need is to get one with the same terminal size (unless you want to change the *** connectors) 1/4".

Not sure if it's still true but once upon a time ago you could also get a battery for these locally at Sam's or Costco for about $15. Might be $20 now if they still carry them, then there's Radio Shack,
Staples
,
Walmart
, as other B&M options.

Just make sure it's a fresh battery, not sitting around for months or longer at less than 12V. Same goes for buying the whole UPS, if the battery is under 12V already when it arrives, I'd return it for something fresher unless the discounted price makes a shorter battery lifespan acceptable.

I would have agreed completely 20 years ago, but the battery quality these days is much different, in a very bad way. It's not worth the risk, for me at least to save the $10 - 15 in this case. The APC label means they at least used a qualified battery manufacturer.
