    I had 3 gens of Fires before getting an iPad. I used them for reading, writing, music, and movies, apps dev, to name a few. The Fires are miserable. Same experience with Windows machine and Mac, used both, Macs live longer. My Macbook 2011 still works for 2 hours while my younger Windows laptops all died. I used several IT device for a living. I agree some are priced unreasonably, but some other if you shop carefully you will save in the long run. I would keep up with the Jones in that regard, however.
