Rather than buying cartons of broth, get concentrated stock. I've been using Better than Bouillon for years, and in my opinion it tastes better than the cartons of stock. plus, it's more flexible. You can keep the jar in the fridge for months, whereas a half-used carton of stock will spoil after a few days. also, some recipes call for adding chicken stock, then boiling the liquid down. with stock concentrate you can add as much or little water as you like, so you don't need to boil off the extra water.
At Costco for $6 you can get a jar that, when mixed with water, can make 76 cups of stock (19 quarts). So, it costs only $0.32 per quart of stock.
Most grocery stores also carry better than bouillon.
