It clearly states before making the final acceptance on the website that it will be $1.00 for the 1st month and then $14.99 for each month after that for as long as the Xbox Live Gold pass has on it. So you ONLY get one month for $1; still a decent deal but only really saving $13 maximum!

Incorrect, it upgrades your current existing subscription for up the 36 months. I can verify this is the case as I do not have another payment for Xbox Live Ultimate until 1/16/2022.
